D-lish Scraps August Moodboard

I loved the triangles in this month's D-lish Scraps Inspiration Board and the colour scheme gave me a excuse to opened 2 of my favourite 6x6 paper pads.  I chose to use a photo of my son that I quickly took during a tour of the High School he will go to next year in the STEM room, he was having a bad pain day so a smile was not going to happen despite how happy and excited he was about a STEM room.

I selected 3 papers from each paper pad and cut triangles from each paper with my 12 inch trimmer.

I picked out these items from my leftovers from the June 2015 Just Add Paper Kit from D-lish Scraps as I felt they could be useful in the layout.
I also grabbed my DIY Enamel Dots as the dark blue would suit this layout, some yellow embroidery floss and a selection of die cuts from Kaisercraft Garage Days.
I wished I had more than 1 of the cute paper straws left but I made do by cutting it into 6 pieces to adhere under my photo mat.

Happy Litttle Mistakes again changed how I expected to do my layout.  I used a different adhesive that wasn't as repositionable as the one I prefer and I needed to reposition some of my triangles which caused some small tears so I used the embroider floss, tire die cuts and some gears to hid the tears, they were only 3 small tears but if I only covered them the page didn't feel finished so I added more to help it feel balanced.

Jot Magazine August Moodboard

When I saw the Jot Magazine August Moodboard I knew it was the perfect inspiration for scrapping my daughter's first time touring when she was 19 as a cellist with Elvis To The Max for his Mackay and Rockhampton performances.  But which photo to use.  I decided to use a photo of her with Max and some of the other musicians with their instruments.

I started by selecting various embellishments that may suit the layout and some scraps of red paper and a sheet of grey paper from the 6x6 pad from Kaisercraft's Through The Looking Glass range.  I also grabbed some die cuts from Kaisercraft Close Up Collectables.

I wanted this layout to be fairly quick and simple to create as I want to get as many challenges done this month I can.

First I did some stenciling on the smooth side of my white cardstock but I was not happy with the results so I flipped the cardstock over and used a red Mister Hueys spray to do some droplets by taking the nozzle out and giving it a shake.

I got these gorgeous music brads some time ago, I don't remember the brand but I love them, I added the flower to cover up something that I didn't want visible.  There are no mistakes in scrapbooking, just happy accidents that allow you to change your layout by moving things or adding things.

I was working on this embellishment cluster when I spotted this cute felt bow that was included in my small order from Rainbow Splendour and I just had to add it in as it is black and glittery which is perfect.

Some of the red Mister Hueys Spray got on my Memories tag accidentally despite it not being near the cardstock but I really like the effect.
I tore a piece of washi in half length ways and added it to the bottom left and top right of the page.
I stamped some cute stars with CTMH Slate Ink after I had finished the layout.

My finished layout, I intentionally have not completely finished it as I want my daughter to do the journaling and I will add the Title once I have her journaling to add.
Appologies for the layout looking like the red paper is not straight, my usual surface for photographing my layout is currently not available so I had to take this photo on a chair which was not flat.

Day 1 of Embellishments for the 100 Days Project

When I first discovered the 100 Days Project midway through it last year I loved the idea of creating a handmade Project Life card each day but after signing up this year as Day 1 grew closer I decided I really wanted to work with embellishments.  I wanted to create DIY embellishments as well as embellishment clusters.  That would be something I could do even if I only have 5 minutes to spare each day.

I decided Day 1 I would make some DIY enamel dots to use in my embellishment clusters later in the project.
I only have 3 colours of Viva Perler Pens so for Day 1 I have made a row of each colour.  I used a sheet of purchased dots and moved the left overs to the 2 left hand rows so I could use the 3 rows on the right for my DIY enamel dots and be easily able to store them on the sheet.

I will be sharing my daily progress on my Instagram and I will do a approximate weekly blog post with more details on my progress and creations.

Are you participating in the 100 Days Project this year?
Please share your link to your project with me.

Funky Flair Inspiration Studio August Moodboard

The colours in the August Moodboard from Funky Flair Inspiration Studio reminded me of the foliage during our walk through Queens Park with our dog Lily.

Inspired by the photos I used floral papers, some paper flowers and a paper butterfly.

The central green paper and the butterfly are from the Kaisercraft Kaleidescope range.
The orange paper and paper flowers are from my old Creative Memories stash, a range called
The yellow paper is from Crafty Koala and is called Yellow Flowers.
The green strip that has white flowers on is from Grant Arcival's Zara Collection.
I also used some die cuts from the Kaisercraft Close Up Collectables.

I was all finished except Title and journaling and then I remembered I had to include the word Forever on the page so Title solved I added it next to the friends die cut which is so perfect as the boys will have a friend forever in Lily and in each other.
I added a die cut circle tag under Forever as there was a tear in the paper I needed to cover.

As for the journaling I know what I want to journal but wording it is difficult, I am unsure how I want to word it.  This was our first  walk with Lily after Lola passed away so Lily was getting used to a new pack dynamic.

Scrapbooking Top 50 Australia August Challenge

Scrapbooking Top 50 Australia's August Challenge well I love cake, I love butterflies and with 3 kids that play instruments any challenge that gets me scrapping those music photos is a challenge for me and I had to have join in for the first time this month.

I decided to use the photo, sheet music and cut up promotional poster from my daughter's Mozart concert that I wound up not using in last month's Kraft+ Challenge.

For the lovely rainbow of butterflies I decided to colour a Chipboard Butterfly from my prize pack I recieved from 2Crafty Chipboard for my June Scrap the Boys layout, after finishing my layout I realised the butterfly I selected was a dragonfly, had a giggle at my sleep deprived self.
I achieve this rainbow by base coating with Gesso and then I started from the middle with yellow and added each colour to create my rainbow of lilac, pale blue, light green, yellow, light orange and light red.

As the poster bits already had pink ink I decided to ink the sheet music with yellow and then blue to tie it in with the rainbow, I also added blue ink to the pink cardstock.

I selected my other embellishments to add to the rainbow on my page.  A purple doily I got at the Destash Market, rose ribbon from my stash and these cute crochet flowers I got from D-lish Scraps as I felt they tied in nicely with the rainbow.  I also added some more of these cute music and cello charms I used last month to my layout.

At first I was going to go with a background paper that had several colours of the rainbow in it but I decided on a softer background.  The paper is from 7Gypsies and is rather old, I like the pattern on it, it just helps with the feel I wanted from the layout.

So what do you think of my quick layout for Scrapbooking Top 50 Australia's August Challenge?

Kraft + August Challenge

I chose to scrap a belly photo for my daughter's pregnancy album for the Kraft + Challenge so I did a 8x8 layout.

I made some tassels in a colour close to her top in the photo.
I selected these cute love clips from Maya Road to use with this layout in addition to the tassels.

The Kraft paper I am using has a interesting textured look to it so I wanted that to show through any colour I added and chose to not add any gesso or texture paste.

First I added some watercolour in a Emerald shade of green randomly over the page, then I added some left over homemade paint spray made with Kaisercraft sage paint also randomly to the page letting it run and dried with the heat tool.
Then I used a Kaisercraft Stencil with Dylusions Dirty Martini Spray.
I then added some Cracked Pistacio Distress Ink in with a Blending tool and finally stamped some stars with the Cracked Pistacio Distress Ink.
This gave me layers while still showing the Kraft paper off.

I added 3 vellum stickers I recieved with a Birthday Card from Rebecca at Aussie Crafters and some rose ribbon to the layout for some more layers.

I added this cute baby sticker I got at the Destash Marked as it had some of the colours in the flowers on the vellum stickers I was using.
In addition to the love clip I added 2 die cut hearts I recieved in a die cut swap.

I used one of the vellum stickers to journal how far along my daughter is.

I am really happy with the results.

White with 1 August Challenge

White with 1 this month features my favourite colour this month, so August is the perfect month for me to join this Challenge for the first time.
First I gathered together all my embellishments that may suit it and the photo I wanted to scrap with this layout.  As I chose a photo for my daughter's pregnancy album it meant I needed to do a 8x8 layout which adds to the challenge as it limits space.

When selecting paper I chose a piece of 6x6 paper from Kaisercraft Ivy Crush range in the shade of purple for the challenge,  I also chose this piece that has a lacquared print on it and coloured it with Distress Stain in Seedless Preserves to coordinate with the colours of the layout.

I also coloured one of the smaller butterfly stickers from Kaisercraft Ivy Crush with Distress Stain Seedless Preserves.

I used more of the vintage lace from my Mum's sewing stash, doily flower from the crocheted table runner, a quote tag from Kaisercraft Ivy Crush and chipboard buttons from Bella.

I swiped some Distress Stain in Seedless Preserves on my white cardstock before adhering things down so the swipe marks would poke out from the photo.
I added 3 of the little circles that I popped out of the chipboard buttons on the bottom right corner.
