She Baby Scrapbooking Layout - Helmar Creative Team

After what is a really long break from scrapbooking for me I am so excited to be back scrapping and couldn't resist starting with this adorable photo of my Granddaughter when she met her cousin, she was about 18 months old here and just loved to chat away in her own language but amongst her babble we heard the words She Baby so that is the title of my layout.

Now to share with you how I created it.
First I grabbed out my very limited amount of pink scrapbooking supplies and created a bit of a page kit with scraps and 6x6 papers.
I just started gluing layers to my matted photo with my favourite glue for scrapbooking - Helmar Acid Free Glue

Then I added my embellishments, the chipboard stickers weren't sticking so I added some Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive to ensure they stayed glued down for a lifetime.

I fussy cut a little onesie from some paper and adhered it down with Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots to give it some nice height.

I was really happy with my layout and then I wrote my journaling and was no longer happy so painted over my background with some pearlescent white paint and added some spats of ancient shimmery sprays that are in my stash.  I like how the journaling is still visible but no longer jumping out at you now.

Are you having a creative block like I was?  Just grab out some coordinating supplies and print a photo you love and start playing.  I find it really helps.

New Adventures - Helmar Creative Team

My brain was needing my to scrap so I went through my photos and found one I was in the mood to scrap and then I started pulling out supplies from my stash that might work with the photo.

I started by playing with my papers and supplies, working out what would suit this story best, once I had decided on my papers I started adhering them down with Helmar Acid Free Glue.

When selecting my embellishments I pulled out this key hole chipboard and a key.  I coloured them with metallic Distress Crayons and then gave them a coat of Helmar Crystal Kote Matte Varnish to ensure if it ever got wet the colour wouldn't run.

Note it is best to use spray adhesives and varnish outside but the weather wasn't great so I just opened up my double sliding doors and a window.

I adhered my embellishments down with Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive.

I selected some chipboard alphas, the plain ones split when I was taking them out so I adhered the layers back together with some Helmar Acid Free Glue.

When adhering the chipboard flower down I put a glob of Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive in the middle and sprinkled some tiny glass seed beads to form a flower centre.

I finished off my layout with a doodle boarder to match the scrap of doodle paper.

My daughter loves the layout, she said she loves that I chose stuff to match her clothes and the tarp in addition to some house embellishments.

I hope this has inspired you to get some scrapping done and tell your stories while playing with glue and pretty supplies.

Sweet Bubbles - Ruby Rock-It Creative Team

When I saw the gorgeous Blush Floral paper in the new Bella papers I felt I had found the perfect paper to start a little kit for scrapping some photos taken of my granddaughter at a wedding earlier this year.  So I pulled together a kit to suit creating a few layouts that consisted of the Blush range, PL197 Pink Lady Montage, Francheville Cards & Envelopes in Pastel, Francheville Mini White Doilies, Distress Mini Ink in Vintage Violet and as I hadn't decided which photos to use I also included Distress Mini Ink in Salty Ocean to work with the photo that includes my daughter as she had blue hair at the time.

I decided to prepare everything first.
I cut what cards I wanted from THE654 Blush Quarters and PL197 Pink Lady Montage, so I would know what I would have left over from Blush Quarters.
Then I used my Silhouette Curio to cut the floral frame from the card that is second from the right on the middle row of Blush Quarters, the champagne bottle & glasses and some bits from the Botanicals range.  I then fussy cut flowers from THE Blush Floral.

I then went through my embellishment stash and grabbed out some lace, chipboard, flowers and a Charms Creations Heart along with a pack of Francheville Mini White Doilies.

Using my Curio I cut the word Bubbles and some other items from some Francheville Cards & Envelopes in Pastel.
I matted all my photos that I was trying to decide between so they would be ready to grab and go.
I then punched out some lacey borders from the card scraps and made some flowers from the card scraps.

To make my flowers I punch out a assortment of flowers from the cardstock scraps with some old flower punches I have in my stash and I inked the edges, the pink flowers I inked with Vintage Violet and the Blue with Salty Ocean.

I shaped them with a ball tool and a scrap of foam.

For my flower centres I grabbed out my Just Beat It SB15 Glass Seed Beads in Rose and JBX84 Round Brass Beads in Silver as I love using glass and metal beads for flower centres, they are a more archival option and they give you a gorgeous result.

I simply put a drop of Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive into the centre of each flower and then placed my beads into the glue, if they needed adjusting I just used my pokey tool to move them.

I was now ready to scrap.
I worked out my photo positions and glued them together.
I split 2 of the 3x4 cards from THE654 Blush Quarters in half to create layers that extended both sides of my photo stack and then glued them to my photos.
And then I trimmed a section of Blush Quarters that I had decided not to use the cards from and glued it along the bottom.
This is how my stack looks from the back, so you can see how I trimmed out the middle of my matts and cut the cards.

This square photo is popped up with 4 layers of cardstock scraps to give it some lift.

This 3x4 card was perfect for representing the bubbly fun my granddaughter was having.

I also cut up a doily to poke in around my layout to add some lacey texture.

And I stamped my white cardstock with a bubble stamp from my stash in Distress Ink Vintage Violet.

Here you can see the other 3x4 card that I chose for this layout.  I felt this card also added to the bubbly fun of the page.

For these big gorgeous florals I put layers of cardstock scraps behind them, the main one has 4 layers and the on near the page edge has 2 layers.
I then used some Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots on the smaller parts to give them lift to.

I added some leaves from the Botanicals paper to the bottom right corner to sort of pull the florals into the corner and added some of them throughout the main section of the layout.

For my title I decided to use this Sweet chipboard from Memorymaze combined with the Bubbles that I had die cut from a pink card from Francheville Cards & Envelopes in Pastel.
I base coated it with Gesso and then coloured it with Distress Ink in Vintage Violet.

I love how this project turned out.  The floral colours in THE Blush Floral were perfect for these photos of my Granddaughter as they matches her dress so well.
Now to scrap my next layout with this little kit I have put together.

Sister Selfie - Ruby Rock-It Creative Team

When I saw the new Bella Mini Theme called Selfie Queen it prompted me to scrap one of the many selfies my girls have taken over the years so sent them a message asking which of their selfies they would be ok with being on a layout on the Ruby Rock-It blog and they sent me the gorgeous selfie I am scrapping today.
As always I started by creating a kit for myself, in my kit I had:-
All 3 Selfie Queen Papers THE531 Segments, THE548 Click and THE555 Titles.  I also added some card bases from the Francheville Cards & Envelopes boxes Primary and Pastel that would either suit this selfie or a alternative (I would later use some different colours from Basics and Pastel), Fundamentals tags, Francheville White Paper Doilies and Bella Chipboard Alpha Pastel.

I started off by matting my photo with some of the Pastel cards.  I chose a Lilac card to draw attention to my daughter via her Lilac hair in the photo and a blue for my other daughter who is in a denim jacket in the photo.
I adhered the photo directly to the uncut card with Helmar Acid Free Glue and then trimmed to side.  I repeated this with the now matted photo to add the second matte.

I held my matted photo over the Segments sheet to work out if the purple selfie 3x4 card from THE531 Segments would suit.
This would give me some more purple on my layout to help pull your attention to my daughter that is in the back of the photo.

Once I had cut the card from the sheet I decided I wanted the word separate from the card and to use the off cuts as another matte, so I carefully fussy cut it from the card to leave good sized and shaped scraps for matting.

I carefully adhered the pieces to my matted photo so it would look like 1 piece down the left side.

While I was cutting the purple selfie card from the THE531 Segments paper I also decided to selectively cut the tiny word section from the paper so I wouldn't accidentally cut through it when looking to use the B side later.

I also cut the 2 girls from the THE531 Segments paper as they reminded me of both my daughters, they just needed their hair colour altered.  S loves beanies and C loves fashion so they really were a perfect embellishment for this layout.
With the beanie girl I didn't cut the entire card out, I cut as close to her as I could so as to leave as much spare B side on the paper as possible.

I then fussy cut them from the cards before colouring them.

To colour their hair I selected Shaded Lilac for my daughter with purple hair and Aged Mahogany for my daughter with red hair and grabbed out my aqua brush to apply the colour to just the parts that needed it.

As I was colouring my purple haired girl I decided the colours weren't quiet right so I grabbed out some Antique Linen to mix with the Aged Mahogany and some Wilted Violet to mix with the Shaded Lilac.
Basically I dabbed the colour next to the one I was using and then mixed all of the lighter colour for each with a little of the dark colour on my Craft Sheet until I had a colour I was happy with.

I was now happy with how my girls hair looked and just had to wait for them to dry.
The purple is hard to see in the photo but it is a close match to my daughter's hair.

While my girls were drying I worked on more layering for my layout.  I got this idea that a grey card from the Basics box of Francheville Cards & Envelopes box would be a cool way to pull in the street scene in the background of the photo and give me a good contrast that would break up all the colour.
I wasn't worried about the crease showing as it could represent the edge of a wall or something.
I adhered my layers directly down to the full card with Helmar Acid Free Glue and then trimmed about a inch off the right hand side

Next I ahered my purple haired girl to my Selfie word by using some Xpress It double sided tape to hold them together.
I then adhered her down by adding some Helmar Acid Free Glue to where the tape wasn't.

I then started adding some more layers using the scraps of pink I had from fussy cutting my girl and some scraps of the THE555 Titles paper I had left over after fussy cutting some of the words out of it.
I just poked things and glue them until I was happy.

I then looked through my Primary and Pastel Francheville Cards & Envelopes boxes for a card that would give a nice layer behind the bright colours and break things up a bit before adhering the entire cluster down to the Click paper.
I decided on the Pink from the Pastel pack but not wanted to waste any of the card I cut away what would be behind my cluster, giving me a cute mini card for a later project.

I cut a section away from the THE548 Click paper that my cluster would cover, I want to use this for a tip in for my 2018 journal to include a selfie I took with a friend when she visited from Lismore and we spent the weekend scrapping together.

Once I had adhered down my layer cluster to my background paper it was time to add my beanie girls and tiny words using Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots so that I could have them pop up off the page but adjust it to a suitable height if needed.

I added the word Sister to the top left with my Bella Chipboard Alpha Pastel can called my layout done.
