June 2019 Challenge List

Welcome to another month of stunning scrapbooking challenges.  Wow I can't believe it is June.  I am so sorry that I missed doing the May list, it is the first time since starting this list that I have missed a month.  Life was extray hectic in May and I found myself thinking of the list at times when I couldn't access a computer, so despite having it on my To Do List repeatedly throughout the month when I was on the computer my mind would be whirling with all the other things I needed to do and I would miss things.

So now for the list, I will provide a link to each challenge that has a direct link for it and either their Facebook page, website, shop, whichever is appropriate so you have all the details you could possibly need.

Those that are in a Facebook Group I will link to the group, please contact admins of the group to let them know you are joining to participate in the challenges or look at the challenges as some admins have requested this due to the waiting list.

I will try to update this list throughout the month as Challenges become available.

I am really loving participating in Challenges, even if I save them to do at a later date.  It is getting me to craft more often which is always a good thing.

International Challenges

 

CSI Challenge - Color, Stories, Inspiration is a fun challenge formatted as a case file for you to do.  There are 3 case files this month.

 
Crafty Creations Challenge is a bimonthly craft challenge.  Make sure you read their rules as entry closing dates are different to most challenges.

Pixel Scrapper is a Digital Scrapbooking community that has a monthly challenge.  I am so glad I found this wonderful community. 

More Than Words has a great prompt this month.  Here are the Rules for their Challenges. Here is their Facebook Page.

 

Lasting Memories Scrapbooking Challenges have multiple challenges each month to inspire you.

Creative Inspiration is a online forum/group that features multiple challenges throughout the month.

Counterfeit Kit Challenge is a great concept where you take inspiration from a new kit that is out and create a kit from your supplies using that inspiration and so create layouts with your own kit.  They do a blog hop with their team showing each person's kit and layouts.  Well worth checking it out.

Scrappy Land is a bimonthly challenge that is all about getting out those dies and using them.  Make sure you list  the brand of die you used and that it is one their store stocks.

Craft-Dee Bowz is a monthly challenge that involves using a bow.  Head to their blog for more details.

Stick it Down has 3 Challenges a month, a card sketch, a single page sketch and a double page sketch.  Head to their blog for further details. 

Rochelle Spears has a new Scrappy Friends Challenge.

Scrap Our Stash has a fun prompt this month.

The ScrapRoom is a bimonthly challenge starting with a Sketch this month.

My scrappy friends who only scrap when at a crop, or who have stopped or reduced their time scrapping for any reason I think you will love some of these, have a look at each one.

Sleepy - Scrapping Fun Kits Design Team

I wanted to make a quick mini album with the papers in the June 2019 Kit so I had some fun watching a few quick mini album videos on YouTube and decided I would go with a Wallet Mini Album that My Sister's Scrapper shared in 2016, as I feel like it could be used as a really cool card as well as a gift.

I selected some cream cardstock as my base to pull in the cream components in the kit and followed her instructions, gluing my fold out pieces with Helmar Acid Free Glue.



I adhered magents with Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive before adding my papers with Helmar Acid Free Glue.

To decorate my top flap at the front I added the cream trim from the kit with Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive, folding the ends around to the back.  I then added the Sleepy die cut as my title and created a little cluster with 3 of the flowers in the kit and the last button that I had left over from doing the bay album for my friend that I shared the other day.





When covering the back of the top flap I added to layers of cardstock between the trim so when my paper went down it would sit fairly flat. 

I adhered all layers down with Helmar Acid Free Glue.

I added some white cardstock to represent where photos could go and added the elephant papers to the other sections.









I love how it turned out.

Getting my canvas back into it's frame - Helmar Creative Team

One of the things my Mum absolutely treasured was this portrait of me.  It is by the first artist/photographer to ever put photos onto canvas and I think it was in 1978/1979 judging by my age in the photo.  He had a ground breaking technique for putting photos onto canvas and making them look like a oil painting and my portrait appeared on TV as there was a special on it late at night.  I remember Mum telling me about how Grandma stayed up late to watch it.
I have no idea who the artist was but I would love to find out.

Unfortunately the way Mum stored it and the way it was transported during multiple moves caused it to come out of it's frame but thanks to Helmar I was able to glue it back in.


I wasn't sure which glue was best so I asked Helmar and as always they had answers and advice to help me get this done.  Helmar Super-Tac Glue was what was recommended and it definitely did the job.
I cleaned the frame and the edge of the canvas with a damp cloth.  Then I applied Helmar Super-Tac Glue to the edge of the canvas but I would realise this was a mistake and it was better to apply it inside the frame to get a proper adhesion of the canvas to the frame.

I got a really good seal using this glue. 

As you can see in this photo the print is starting to come off in tiny spots, it is also really faded (my dress had sky blue flowers on it), etc due to being on a wall for 30 years so I have wrapped it up in bubble wrap and packed it into a picture/mirror box to keep it safe.

After packing it away I realised I should have given it a coat of Helmar Chrystal Kote Gloss Varnish (gloss as it was glossy when new) to provided added protection, so I will have to get it out of storage and do that asap.
I am so glad that I was able to get this back into it's frame and hopefully it will last longer thanks to Helmar.
